THE NATIONAL BOARD OF REVIEW TO ANNOUNCE AWARD WINNERS ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2015

 

ANNUAL AWARDS GALA SET FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 5, 2016

 

New York, NY (April 15, 2015) – The National Board of Review announced today that they will unveil their 2015 award winners on Tuesday, December 1^st, 2015 and will host their annual awards gala on Tuesday, January 5^th, 2016, at Cipriani 42^nd Street in New York City.

"We are thrilled to welcome back last year’s host, NBC’s Willie Geist,” said NBR President Annie Schulhof. “This also marks our tenth year at Cipriani 42^nd Street and we look forward to continuing this tradition.”

The National Board of Review’s awards celebrate excellence in filmmaking with categories that include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Performances, Best Ensemble, Breakthrough Performance, Directorial Debut and Spotlight Award as well as signature honors such as the William K. Everson Award for Film History, Freedom of Expression, and Special Achievement in Filmmaking.

For 106 years, the National Board of Review has dedicated its efforts to the support of domestic and foreign cinema as both art and entertainment.  Each year, over 250 films (studio, independent, foreign-language, animated, and documentary) are viewed by this select group of film enthusiasts, filmmakers, professionals, academics, and students.  These screenings are frequently followed by in-depth discussions with directors, actors, producers, and screenwriters.  One of the NBR’s core values is their belief in nurturing new and up-and-coming filmmakers by awarding grants to promising film students and facilitating community outreach to The Children’s Aid Society, The Ghetto Film School, Reel Works Teen Filmmaking, and Educational Video Center.

Colombian-born Actress Loren Escandon Hits Hollywood Hard with Her Role in ‘The Messengers’ on the CW

Los Angeles, CA (April 3rd, 2015) – Hailing from Colombia, award-winning actress Loren Escandon (www.LorenEscandon.com) is part of the highly anticipated supernatural-drama series ‘The Messengers’, created by Eoghan O'Donnell (‘Teen Wolf’) and produced by Joe Incaprera (‘American Horror Story’), Stewart Lyons (‘Breaking Bad’) and Matt Pitt (‘Revolution’), set to air April 17th, 2015, on The CW Network.

The Colombian beauty, which after 12 years living in New York recently made the permanent move to Los Angeles, plays the spirited Gabriela who is married to Cesar Garcia, played by Bernardo Saracino (‘Sicario’) and is the sister-in-law in love with the shows leading man, Raul Garcia played by JD Pardo (‘Revolution’).

“I had a wonderful time working on this show and loved playing my character Gabriela. She is such a spirited, down to earth person yet has so many complexities about her.” said Loren on her ‘The Messengers’ role. “I also really enjoyed working with everyone on set – all the Producers and Directors have been fantastic, and I am extremely proud to be a part of this show. I’m very excited for everyone to tune in and see it!"

Loren spent the majority of her acting career to date performing on stage to a live audience. In 2011 Loren wrote and starred in the award-winning off Broadway play ‘Montera’, a fearless one women show about the oldest profession throughout history and the most dehumanized profession in contemporary times.  The play, which in 2013 toured Russia, Spain and Cuba, and in 2014 toured New York, soon relished in rave reviews and rapidly became a theatregoer’s favorite. During the shows run in New York, Loren picked up two prestigious awards, the HOLA Award and ACE Award both for ‘Best Actress in a Solo Show’.

When not acting Loren lends her time to different non-profit organizations and is particularly passionate about animal welfare. She can often be seen hiking the Hollywood Hills with her two shelter rescued Chihuahuas, Lincoln and Taft, both named after the great U.S Presidents.
