The Academy Unveils Vision for New Museum by Architects Renzo Piano and Zoltan Pali
ACADEMY MUSEUM OF MOTION PICTURES WILL BE FIRST MAJOR MUSEUM IN U.S. DEDICATED EXCLUSIVELY TO THE ART, SCIENCE OF MOVIES
$100M RAISED TOWARD $250M CAPITAL CAMPAIGN GOAL
BEVERLY HILLS, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that it has reached its initial goal of $100 million toward a $250 million capital campaign to fund the upcoming Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Concurrently, the Academy unveiled its vision for the first major U.S. museum dedicated exclusively to the history and ongoing development of motion pictures. Designed by award-winning architects Renzo Piano and Zoltan Pali, the non-profit museum which will be located in the historic May Company Wilshire building in Los Angeles, is slated to open in 2016."
The Academy museum will be a landmark that both our industry and our city can be immensely proud of," said Academy CEO Dawn Hudson. “I appreciate the unwavering support of our board, our members, and especially our campaign chairs, all of whom have led us through this crucial stage."
Launched in early 2012 by Campaign Chair Bob Iger and Co-Chairs Annette Bening and Tom Hanks, the campaign has raised $100 million through private donations towards a $250 million goal. “The early response to our fundraising campaign has been outstanding and is incredibly encouraging,” said Iger. “We are so grateful to the founding supporters of the campaign, who share our vision and passion for creating the Academy Museum.”
Located on the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) campus, the nearly 300,000 square-foot Academy Museum will revitalize the historic building, which has been vacant or underutilized for nearly 20 years, and weave it back into the fabric of the city.
The design fully restores the Wilshire and Fairfax street-front facades of the 1938 Streamline Moderne building, and includes a spherical glass addition at the back of the original building. Designed to represent the marriage of art and technology, the addition will house a state-of-the-art theater which replaces an extension made to the structure in 1946.
“The design for the museum will finally enable this wonderful building to be animated and contribute to the city after sitting empty for so long,” said Piano, the Pritzker Prize winning architect. “I am very inspired by the Academy’s name and mission, the idea of the arts and sciences working together to create films. Our design will preserve the May Company building’s historic public profile while simultaneously signaling that the building is taking on a new life that celebrates both the industry and art form that this city created and gave to the world.”
"A major movie museum in the heart of this city has been a long-held dream of the Academy," said Academy President Hawk Koch, "Thanks to the latest technological developments we can take the visiting public through time, back into our history and forward toward our future."
Through immersive exhibitions and galleries, special screening rooms, and an interactive education center with demonstration labs, the museum will draw from the Academy's extensive collections and archives, which include more than 140,000 films, 10 million photographs, 42,000 original film posters, 10,000 production drawings, costumes, props and movie-making equipment, as well as behind-the-scenes personal accounts from artists and innovators – the Academy’s membership – working in the motion picture industry.
“Hollywood has played an unparalleled role in bringing American art, culture and creativity to people around the world,” said Antonio Villaraigosa, mayor of Los Angeles. “The Academy Museum will be a remarkable resource for L.A. that will both celebrate the industry that has defined our city and provide an essential resource that reinforces our position as leader and innovator.”
The $100 million raised includes significant commitments from:
“The Academy Museum will have a profound impact on the cultural landscape of Los Angeles. The decision to locate this museum in a historic building on LACMA's campus will bring incredible benefits to both institutions and their visitors. It is a whole that is bigger than the sum of its parts,” said Zev Yaroslavsky, chairman of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

“PAUL WILLIAMS STILL ALIVE”
AVAILABLE ON VIDEO-ON-DEMAND OCTOBER 16th
A film by Stephen
Kessler
PAUL WILLIAMS STILL ALIVE, one of the most critically acclaimed documentaries of the year (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/paul_williams_still_alive_2011/), is coming to video-on-demand across the country!
From the company that brought you ANVIL: THE STORY OF ANVIL comes PAUL WILLIAMS STILL ALIVE, a film critics are hailing as a "remarkable achievement in a documentary" (Hollywood Reporter) and a "stirring and sweet story of survival” (Indiewire).
He won Grammys and an Academy Award; wrote many #1 songs from Barbara Streisand's "Evergreen" to the Carpenter's "We've Only Just Begun" as well as Kermit the Frog's biggest hit, "The Rainbow Connection"; starred in a Brian DePalma movie; put out his own hit records and albums; was a guest on The Tonight Show fifty times; and is the president of ASCAP... and you might not have heard of him. In the 1970's, Paul Williams was the singer / actor / songwriter that emotional, alienated teenage boys all over the world wanted to be, a sex symbol before MTV, when sex symbols could be 5"2 and sing songs about loneliness with the Muppets. One of those boys was Steve Kessler, a chubby kid from Queens. Thirty years later, Kessler discovered something amazing: Paul Williams didn't die. And no one had ever tried to make a documentary about him. A wistful musical journey that will re-introduce a new generation to Williams' soulful classics, PAUL WILLIAMS STILL ALIVE is the charmingly self-narrated story of Stephen Kessler's lifelong obsession with the former superstar-and what happens when the nostalgic filmmaker finally catches up with him.

The TV show’s pilot will center around the most important aspect of Graffiti Art as an experience: the Graffiti Battle, when two or more artists go head to head for industry respect and a display of passion for the art form.
Piece Fest co-founder Omen Ferdowsi furthers: “Now we have the chance to not only do a TV show true to graffiti as an art-form and movement, but also to raise money and awareness for a cause worthy of that movement.”
The money and awareness raised at Piece Fest benefits the Pico Union Housing Corp, which provides facilities and social services to enrich the Los Angeles community.
Every Day Tomorrow Pictures is the front-line production company behind Piece Fest.

TRIBECA FILM ACQUIRES NORTH AMERICAN RIGHTS TO GENRE DEFYING RESOLUTION
“A tale of secrets and narrative revelations … strong storytelling with suspense and emotion.” - Steve Zeitchik, Los Angeles Times
"Resolution is an intelligent indie flick that explores new areas of horror with stunning execution. These are two guys to watch out for." – Bloody Disgusting
New York, NY – August 15, 2012 – Mysterious forces, personal demons, dark humor and gripping performances combine in the genre-defying tour-de-force Resolution. Tribeca Film today announced it has acquired all North American rights from XYZ Films to rising directing duo Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson’s naturalistic-yet-otherworldly thriller. The film’s enigmatic narrative and fresh take on genre filmmaking captivated audiences and critics at its Tribeca Film Festival and Fantasia International Film Festival premieres earlier this year.
Moorhead and Benson brilliantly straddle the line between raw thrills and honest emotion as complex characters and powerful performances drive this ambitious, unconventional narrative about two friends, one a junkie forced to go cold turkey in an isolated cabin. But what begins as an attempt to save his friend’s life quickly takes an unexpected turn “sure to please even the most seasoned horror fans” (Sound on Sight). “Much of Resolution’s fear factor happens in your head,” the Montreal Gazette raved, due to its “constantly shifting tone, from male-bonding buddy movie to occult thriller, psychodrama, horror and more.”
Tribeca Film plans an early 2013 theatrical release day and date with on-demand platforms, where it will be available in 40+ million homes through a variety of video-on-demand offerings, as well as iTunes, Amazon Watch Instantly, VUDU and Xbox. A strong festival run is set ahead of the commercial release.
Horror buffs and film industry insiders have kept a keen eye on breakout co-directors Moorhead and Benson, who Twitch placed “in the class of bright young voices in American horror to watch including Ti West, Jim Mickle and Adam Wingard.” The enterprising pair has an uncanny ability to capture true humanity within the context of an intricate narrative. While genre elements surface in Resolution, otherworldly tones create an exhilarating layer of unpredictability.
“Anchored by two extraordinary lead performances, Resolution is a truly singular work that avoids easy classification,” said Geoffrey Gilmore, Chief Creative Officer of Tribeca Enterprises. “Aaron and Justin are some of the industry’s brightest new talent.”
“Tribeca Film’s acquisition via XYZ Films is proof that when outsiders band together to make something that scares people while breaking their hearts and making them laugh, that movie will find equally daring industry leaders to passionately support it,” said co-directors Moorhead and Benson. “We’re grateful that audiences share that same excitement for a movie in which we chose to constantly do something different. It validates all the risks we took, so we'll definitely be pushing it that much further on our next projects.”
The deal was negotiated for Tribeca Film by Nick Savva, Director of Acquisitions, and on behalf of the filmmakers by Nate Bolotin and Aram Tertzakian from XYZ Films.

Chelsea and the 7Devils, will be released for PC on October 2nd via digital distributors Desura and Gamersgate for $9.99 USD. Other distributors may follow.
A Steam release of the game is being pursued via a Steam Greenlight page and will only be allowed on Steam if it receives enough positive votes. Unfortunately, Greenlight is the only way we can bring Bunny Must Die! to Steam, and we need every bit of support we can get. Please spread the word!”
Rockin’ Android’s release of Bunny Must Die! Chelsea and the 7 Devils will feature full translation, optional fully remixed soundtrack by Woofle of Gundemonium Collection fame, and optional graphical tweaks. The game is still planned for release at a later date on consoles.
In Bunny Must Die! Chelsea and the 7 Devils, the hilariously over-the-top action-platformer game, Bunny must brave the depths of the Devils’ Labyrinth and overcome the powerful 7 Devils. Battle through a large, connected map filled with unique enemies, traps, and puzzles. Use magical items like the Sylph Shooter and the Hyper Heels to give Bunny ultimate power. Manipulate the fabric of time to solve puzzles and survive. Only with your assistance can she brave this dangerous maze and defeat the 7 Devils...
