New Media Film Festival Heading to Los Angeles June 11 and 12, 2013!
ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT HERO
2012/USA/03:00/Dir. Sierra Lewis & Trent Correy
A young monster is inspired to become a superhero, but discovers there's just one problem with his plan -- and it isn't a little one.
This is a traditionally hand animated film about a young monster who longs to be a superhero like his TV idol "Atomic Adam", but his limitations of monstrous size and limited power do more harm than good until he actually creates a catastrophe and has to rise to the occasion.
The film was entirely created by 14 students at Laguna College of Art & Design in a 12 week Summer Master Class guided by Animation Legend Eric Goldberg. These 14 students started on day one with not even an idea and worked together tirelessly go from blank page to finished film. Fourteen Students. Twelve Weeks.

12.15 SUNDAY -
Los Angeles Premiere
2012/USA/12:00/Dir. Taylor Jenkins
“12:15 Sunday,” a documentary short, brings you a story straight from veteran John Jenkins, who served as a B-17 navigator in the European Theater of World War II. On his first mission over Germany, John’s plane intentionally drew German fire in order to distract the enemy from the main bomber stream. The immense flak ripped their plane apart and forced the crew to bail out. After landing alone on cold, Nazi ground, John had to focus on getting back to friendly territory alive.

John revisits his memory of service during the war to take us through the events of his survival. Aside from John himself, many of his generation had to face the horrors of war only after emerging from a childhood suffered during the Great Depression. A generation forced to grow up fast, revisiting these moments in their memory can be difficult. The experiences John had still leave their emotional traces behind.
