BEVERLY HILLS, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the classic Western “Shane” with a screening of a new digital restoration from Paramount Pictures on Monday, September 16, at the Academy Theater in New York City, with a special video message by director Woody Allen; and on Monday, October 7, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, with an in-person introduction by director James Mangold.

J.J. Abrams Begins Production on the Next "Star Trek" Movie

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions Will Release the Anticipated Sequel on May 17, 2013

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14, 2012 -- Paramount Pictures announced that principal photography has commenced in Los Angeles, CA on the sequel to STAR TREK from director J.J. Abrams. The film will be released on May 17, 2013 in 3D. The 2009 re-launch of the "Star Trek" franchise by Abrams was met with critical acclaim and a worldwide gross of over $385 million at the box office.

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions present a Bad Robot Production of a J.J. Abrams Film. Returning to their posts on the Enterprise are John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin. They are joined by new cast members Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller.

Based upon "Star Trek" created by Gene Roddenberry, the film is produced by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The script was written by Alex Kurtzman & Robert Orci & Damon Lindelof.

Jeffrey Chernov, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake are the executive producers. The director of photography is Dan Mindel, ASC, BSC. The production designer is Scott Chambliss. The film is edited by Maryann Brandon, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. The costume designer is Michael Kaplan. The music is by Michael Giacchino.

Paramount Pictures Unveils New Logo in Celebration of the Studio's 100th Anniversary

New Logo Will Be Seen With "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol"

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Dec. 14, 2011  -- Paramount Pictures today unveiled a new company logo that commemorates the studio's 100^th Anniversary in show business. The new logo can be seen on the new Tom Cruise starrer, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL. The movie will open in IMAX and on other premium large format screens on Friday, December 16th and in theatres everywhere on December 21st.

The studio's first logo, a symbol of a rugged, snow-covered peak from the Wasatch mountain range, was created in 1916. The 100^th Anniversary logo was created by Devastudios, Inc.

Paramount will use the logo throughout its centennial year in 2012. Beginning in 2013, the wording about the 100^th anniversary will be removed from the logo, with the rest of the design remaining in use.

Academy's First Best Picture, "Wings," Returns to the Silver Screen

Beverly Hills, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will screen the first Best Picture winner, "Wings," starring Clara Bow, Charles "Buddy" Rogers, Richard Arlen and Gary Cooper, as part of a celebration of Paramount Pictures' 100th anniversary, on Wednesday, January 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The evening will premiere a restoration by Paramount Pictures in cooperation with the Academy Film Archive, with live musical accompaniment by Clark Wilson on the Allen Theatre Organ.

The Academy is pleased to return the Best Picture winner "Wings," which first premiered in 1927, to the big screen in a vibrant and meticulously restored version that includes the original color tints and re-creates the Handschiegl color process used for additional visual effects. Organist Clark Wilson, who has accompanied silent films at theaters around the country including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, will offer live organ accompaniment that provides an authentic period recreation and also serves to bring the film's emotional power to life for modern audiences.

In addition to its distinction for Outstanding Picture (1927/28), the film also took home an Oscar for Engineering Effects (Roy Pomeroy).

"Wings" is presented in conjunction with "Paramount's Movie Milestones: A Centennial Celebration," an exhibition of photographs, posters, design sketches and personal correspondence highlighting some of Paramount's most celebrated films and filmmakers over the past 100 years. The exhibition will be open to the public from Friday, January 6, through Sunday, February 5, in the Academy's Grand Lobby Gallery. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and weekends, noon to 6 p.m. Admission is free.

Tickets for "Wings" are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid ID, and will be available for purchase starting Thursday, December 1, online at www.oscars.org, in person at the Academy box office and by mail.
