WORLD PREMIERE AT THE 2012 LOS ANGELES FILM FESTIVAL

PINCUS

A FILM BY DAVID FENSTER

STARRING DAVID NORDSTROM AND PAUL FENSTER

Doug Harvey of Artillery Magazine:
"Beautifully shot by Fenster, and minimally but exquisitely scored by John Wood, the deadpan episodic storyline thrums with a formalist glow that imbues Pincus' low-key existential bewilderment with a sense of impending revelation-a promise fulfilled by one of the most satisfyingly anti-climactic denouements ever filmed, which manages to veer Fenster's improvisational autobiographical naturalism toward a magic realism worthy of Vittorio de Sica's 'Miracle in Milan'."

Narrative Competition - David Fenster's PINCUS
Pincus Finster is in way over his head: trying to find a way to stall his father's Parkinson's, halfheartedly taking up yoga to meet girls, and letting his only friend Dietmar, an aging German illegal alien, get drunk and sleep in the homes they're supposed to be remodeling. Pincus spends his time stoned and fumbling for some sort of spiritual truth. Drawing from his own life, director and writer David Fenster has cast his family and friends (including his father, Paul Fenster, who has been living with Parkinson's for 13 years) and woven documentary footage shot in and around his hometown of Miami, Florida into the story. Seamlessly combining naturalistic storytelling with documentary elements and hints of metaphysic mystery, PINCUS is a soulfully handcrafted film that explores the gulf between cynicism and wonder with quiet revelation.

PINCUS
A film by David Fenster. Starring David Nordstrom, Paul Fenster, Christi Idavoy, and Dietmar Franosch. Directed and Written by David Fenster. Executive Producer Phil Lord. Director of Photography David Fenster. Edited by David Fenster. Music by John Wood. Total running time: 78 mins.

On TRONA, David Fenster's previous film:
VARIETY Robert Koehler
"Defiantly minimalist, David Fenster's TRONA marks a striking feature debut by a filmmaker with a taste for moribund humor and the ironies of the American Dream."

CINEMATICAL Karina Longworth
"...expansive in scale and complex in content, it's an almost-silent film full of gorgeous, tightly composed set pieces, and buttered with an seemingly endless supply of great visual jokes."

LA WEEKLY Scott Foundas
"...an evocation of the desolate road poetry remembered from the best films of Wim Wenders and Jim Jarmusch. Fenster seems to say that you can feel as alone in the city as you can in the desert, and he has a pretty original way of saying it."

Keep Memory Alive's 16th Annual "Power of Love Gala" Honors Muhammad Ali With 70th Birthday Celebration

Las Vegas Event Supports Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and Muhammad Ali Center; Event Packs a Powerful Punch in the Fight Against Neurocognitive Diseases

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 13, 2012  -- In its bid to knock out memory disorders, Keep Memory Alive will turn up the heat at its 16th annual Power of Love Gala on Saturday, Feb. 18, as it celebrates the life and legacy of "The Greatest™," Muhammad Ali, while raising funds in support of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and the Muhammad Ali Center. On Feb. 18, Keep Memory Alive, the fundraising arm of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, will transform the MGM Grand Garden Arena into a 70th birthday celebration for Ali designed to honor the boxing legend's contribution to the world and raise awareness for Alzheimer's, Huntington's, ALS, and Parkinson's, the disease "The Champ" has been battling since 1984. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health's work toward enhanced treatments and research of neurocognitive disorders and the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Ky.

Performers and celebrity supporters slated to appear at the celebration include Lenny Kravitz, Anthony Hopkins, John Legend, Cee Lo Green, Brad Garrett, Kelly Rowland, James Gandolfini, and Sammy Hagar. Boxing icons scheduled to attend the celebration include Sugar Ray Leonard, Ken Norton, Tommy "Hitman" Hearns, Roberto Duran, Angelo Dundee, and Leon Spinks. Even more big names from the entertainment and sports worlds will be added to the line up as the event nears.

"This year's Power of Love Gala will bring attention and funds to the important work being done at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health on a whole new scale," said Larry Ruvo, Chairman, Keep Memory Alive. "We're excited to have the opportunity to shed light on the fight to knock out neurocognitive disorders while celebrating the life and ongoing contributions of the legend, Muhammad Ali."

In keeping with its 16-year history, the Power of Love Gala will showcase a celebrity-chef-packed dinner and one-of-a-kind live and silent auction items, but this year, the evening will also include a birthday celebration for Ali, featuring live performances and heartfelt tributes from some of the world's hottest entertainers and sports icons. ABC will also televise the event nationally on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. EST/ 4 p.m. PST.

The gala's celebration for Ali aligns with the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health's recent launch of a landmark study examining the long-term brain health of professional fighters. Aiming to improve the safety and health of fighters, the study will help determine whether magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain, along with other tests, can detect subtle changes in brain health that correlate with impaired thinking and functioning. Researchers hope the information uncovered by this research will eventually result in better ways to prevent permanent brain injury in not only fighters, but also in others who may suffer from brain trauma.

"We are thrilled to bring together some of the biggest entertainers, sports figures and celebrities in the world to salute Muhammad on this monumental evening. Again, the People's Champion is raising his fists high to support and bring awareness to these important organizations," said Kraig Fox, Chief Operating Officer of CKX, Inc.

ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 3, 2012  -- With only a few weeks until the deadline, the American Academy of Neurology Foundation is reminding everyone affected by brain disease to submit a short video to its 2012 Neuro Film Festival, telling your story about why more research is needed to cure brain disease. Winners could receive up to $1,000 and a trip to New Orleans. The deadline to enter is January 31, 2012, at http://www.NeuroFilmFestival.com.

The third annual Neuro Film Festival aims to raise awareness about the need to donate money for research into finding a cure for brain diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, stroke, autism, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis. Michael J. Fox Calls on Parkinson's Patients to Join "Fox Trial Finder" in New Issue of Neurology Now®

New Tool Aims to Bring Better Treatments Faster

ST. PAUL, Minn., Dec. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In his continued quest to outfox Parkinson's disease, actor Michael J. Fox is calling on people with Parkinson's and those without the disease to join the Fox Trial Finder, a new web tool that connects volunteers with clinical trials that desperately need Parkinson's patients to test new drugs and other treatments. Fox and his Fox Trial Finder are featured in the latest issue of Neurology Now® , the American Academy of Neurology's award-winning magazine for patients and caregivers, published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, part of Wolters Kluwer Health.

Fox Trial Finder, created by The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, helps people find clinical trials close to where they live and that may be a good match. It also empowers people by allowing them to take a proactive step in the fight against Parkinson's disease. People without Parkinson's can also join the Fox Trial Finder as clinical trials often need people without the disease to be studied.

"When I got my diagnosis, the first thing the doctor did was give me a prescription. If that doctor could have also given me a pamphlet describing something I could do to help myself and others over the long-term, that would have meant everything," Fox tells Neurology Now. "So, that's our vision. That's what we are working toward every day. We want patients and the Parkinson's community to receive the message: There is something you can do."

The Fox Trial Finder is part of a larger goal to bring better treatments to patients as quickly as possible. According to Fox's Foundation, less than one in 10 people with Parkinson's ever participate in a clinical trial and around 85 percent of clinical trials finish late because of trouble recruiting volunteers. Research shows that the majority of people with Parkinson's are willing to participate, but they don't know about the trials and websites for clinical trials have been hard to navigate.

"One of the greatest privileges for me is to be in this position where I am constantly exposed to the creativity and passion and commitment of the Parkinson's community," Fox tells Neurology Now. "All the different ways people are getting on the bus, doing whatever they can to help move the dial. When the cure is found — and it will be — it won't be because of me or our foundation. It will be because of all of us working together."

Learn more about Fox's story in the latest issue of Neurology Now at http://www.neurologynow.com and the Fox Trial Finder at http://www.foxtrialfinder.com.
