ADVERTISERS BATTLE IT OUT FOR THE BEST COMMERCIAL DURING SUPER BOWL XLV

Previews of Doritos, Cars.com and Bridgestone Commercials

On February 5, 2012, all eyes will be on Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis, Indiana. While the New England Patriots and the New York Giants will be battling it out on the field, advertisers will be battling it out during commercial breaks. And just like the Super Bowl champions who will earn the coveted trophy in the end, advertisers will earn the respect of consumers measured by USA Today's Ad Meter.

Frito Lay - Doritos received more than 6,100 entries in its sixth annual Crash the Super Bowl challenge and now it's down to the top five finalists, two of which will make their primetime debut during Super Bowl XLVI. The Doritos brand will also award the creator's of one of the ads $1 million if his/her commercial scores the top spot on either the traditional USA Today ad meter or the recently created USA Today Facebook Super Bowl ad meter. And as a new contest element, the makers of the consumer-created ad that receives airtime on Super Bowl Sunday will win a guaranteed opportunity to work on a future Doritos brand project with an award-winning entertainment team in the media industry.

Bridgestone Americas is debuting two new ads during Super Bowl XLVI. The ads are part of the company's Time to Perform campaign. A spokesperson for the company says the commercials feature professional athletes Troy Aikman, Deion Sanders, Tim Duncan and Steve Nash utilizing special "performance balls" infused with Bridgestone's advanced tire technology. Bridgestone Americas is the official tire of the NFL, the NHL and the PGA Tour.

Cars.com will air one 30-second commercial during the second quarter of Super Bowl XLVI. When the ad airs, Cars.com is asking viewers to use the Shazam app to tag the ad and help raise money for charity. By tagging the ad, a viewer will earn $1 for one of seven different charities. The charity with the most votes on the site's Facebook page will receive a maximum donation of $100,000. Eligible organizations were selected for the work they do to drive confidence in kids. And many of them are related to one of the primary focal points in President Obama's recent State of the Union speech – education. Viewers can vote by going to the Cars.com Facebook page daily from January 26th through February 13th. The winning organization will be announced on Monday, February 20, 2012.

The ad is part of the company's Confidence campaign. For more information, visit Facebook.com/CarsDotCom.
