In his latest stand-up special, directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, comedian Patton Oswalt tackles issues ranging from frozen food to the future of America. He delivers a blistering set for a packed house at San Diego’s Spreckels Theater with his trademark blend of acerbic wit and unabashed silliness.

As a comedian, Oswalt has shot four TV specials and recorded four critically acclaimed albums, including Finest Hour, which received a Grammy nomination in 2011 for “Best Comedy Album.” In 2009, he received his first Grammy nomination for his album My Weakness Is Strong.

In addition to his Grammy-nominated stand-up work, Oswalt has also found success on the big screen. This December, he will appear in the comedy The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with Ben Stiller. In 2012, Oswalt was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for his brilliant performance in Jason Reitman’s film Young Adult, starring Charlize Theron. In 2009, he received critical acclaim for his performance in Robert Siegel’s Big Fan, which was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award; Oswalt earned a Gotham Award nomination for his performance.  On the small screen, Oswalt is known for his many memorable guest roles on TV shows, including “Parks and Recreation” (2013 TV Critics Choice Award winner), “Portlandia,” “Justified,” “Two and a Half Men,” and as the narrator of ABC’s new comedy “The Goldbergs.”

Patton Oswalt: Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time is executive produced by Patton Oswalt, John Irwin and Generate’s Dave Rath. Bobcat Goldthwait directs and Casey Spira is the producer.  For EPIX, Ross Bernard is executive in charge, Valerie Bishop is production manager and Judy Pastore is consulting producer.   The special was produced by Comedy Central, which will host its basic cable premiere in April 2014.  Jonas Larsen and JoAnn Grigioni are the executives in charge of production for Comedy Central.

IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO SAY BONJOUR TO “THE RETURNED,” CATCH UP WITH THE SERIES THAT HAS FANS EXCLAIMING “OUI!”

SUNDANCE CHANNEL TO MARATHON ALL EPISODES OF THE HIT FRENCH SERIES THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF DECEMBER

“The best series of the fall, possibly of the year.”
-Robert Lloyd, Los Angeles Times

“A superbly stylish and scary French drama with no equal in its genre.”
-Nancy deWolf Smith, Wall Street Journal

Viewers can still get hooked on the engrossing, stylish eight-part French horror series that Entertainment Weekly gave an “A-” and called “eerie, tense, and highly addictive.” Beginning Sunday December 1st, each week, viewers will have the chance to catch-up on all previously aired episodes during marathons of  “The Returned” in anticipation of each week’s brand new episode on Sundance Channel. Please see the full schedule listed below. As praised by Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter, “The Returned” is “a visual pleasure and ultimately proves to be a challenging change-up to the zombie genre, with its smart dialogue, provocative emotions, wonderful acting and intellectual curiosity about love and loss.”

Airing Thursdays at 9:00 PM, "The Returned" takes place in an idyllic French mountain town, where a seemingly random collection of people find themselves in a state of confusion as they attempt to return to their homes. What they don’t know yet is that they have been dead for several years, and no one is expecting them back. As they struggle to reintegrate with their families and past lovers, buried secrets emerge and new mysteries develop as they grapple with a miraculous and sinister new reality. But it seems they are not the only ones to have returned from the dead. Their arrival coincides with a series of gruesome murders which bear a chilling resemblance to the work of a serial killer from the past.

Veteran Movie Villain Tapped To Produce, Direct and Star in Ultimate Evil Envisioned If Nazis Won Film

LOS ANGELES, November 14, 2013 -- Patrick Kilpatrick, internationally known as one of America’s finest character and action actors, in tandem with his company Uncommon Dialogue Films, Inc. (UDF) has been chosen to produce and direct the upcoming historical envisioning film Gleichschaltung, a Nazi term meaning “coordination”. The film is set in an alternative version of contemporary America that examines the social and emotional issues present had Germany won the war.

Project is now a joint venture, initiated by Masch Productions (Jeff Schneider and Abel Martinez, Jr.) out of Salem, OR, with UDF. Besides helming duties, Kilpatrick will also star as lead 4th Reich Ć¼ber enforcer of the imagined social architecture.

“We feel Kilpatrick represents a unique talent, one that embodies not simply the 125 plus films and television shows as a lead actor and the relationships that spring from that experience, but a producer/director and script creator of extraordinary acumen. The guy’s background and depth is amazing. His company UDF, services every aspect from idea inception to global distribution and revenue stream capitalization,” offered Schneider, CEO of Masch Productions and co-writer with Martinez of Gleichschaltung.

“Let’s face it, he’s arguably the best, coolest, kick ass hard ass actor of his generation,” quipped Martinez. “He scared the hell out of me at every stage of my youth, definitely a major part of the nightmare landscape and he keeps doing it! I consider him the Lee Marvin of the 21st century.”

“Despite being busy with UDF and acting, I found Masch’s background in circus production particularly telling and the ideas embodied in the script so compelling, I am extremely gratified to jump in,” said Kilpatrick. “UDF is always pleased to help other gifted filmmakers realize their dreams.”

Kilpatrick went further. “We like projects and media that are conceptually cutting edge, broad audience, laced with action and dynamic human values. UDF is completely devoted to leading a worldwide audience to brilliantly arresting stories and dramatic realms never before visited. If we can do that in win – win integrity based collaborations all the better.”

Additionally, UDF is poised to launch “Active Shooter, “Kilpatrick’s directorial debut, currently in post-production with a highly produced social media launch -- joint contact points on the web and via Indiegogo crowd funding.”

“In the immediate we want to be purveyors of the most skillfully produced, arresting campaigns and film offerings in the recent history of crowd funding while leveraging our deep Hollywood talent, production and traditional distribution bench, utilizing all the mainstay global cinematic infrastructure. We are dedicated to carrying the filmic communiquĆ© of “Active Shooter” and “Gleichschaltung” to a vast global audience.”

Kilpatrick is repped by Guy Kochlani of Across The Board Talent Agency.

EFFECTS WORK "LIKE MAGIC" AT THE ACADEMY

With Ricky Jay, Shane Mahan and Michael Weber

“I think cinema, movies, and magic have always been closely associated. The very earliest people who made film were magicians.” – Francis Ford Coppola

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will explore cinema’s roots in stage magic and sleight of hand and show how visual deception drove the development of movie special effects, on Wednesday, November 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

“Like Magic” will examine how some of the techniques used in the earliest “trick films,” such as forced perspective, cuts, dissolves and multiple exposures are still used by filmmakers in the digital age. Hosted by sleight-of-hand artist Ricky Jay, special effects supervisor Shane Mahan, and stage and screen illusion designer Michael Weber, the program features clips from such pioneering films as Georges MĆ©liĆØs’s “The Magician” (1898) and contemporary favorites like “Snow White and the Huntsman” (2012). It also includes live demonstrations and conversations with some of the films’ creative teams.

CINEMABILITY is developed and conceived by a disabled handicapped 40 year old woman who is wheel chair bound and has limited mobility in her arms and her neck and head due to Muscular Dystrophy.

The film is a documentary about the representation of disabled and handicapped portrayals in film and television.  The film covers the inspiring history of the films dating back from 1930's to now.  Jane Seymour narrates the film and interviews include: Ben Affleck, Jamie Foxx, William H.Macy, Marlee Matlin, Geena Davis, Beau Bridges, Gary Sinise, Kyle MacLachlan, Garry Marshall, Taylor Hackford, Michael Apted, The Farrelly Brothers, Gale Anne Hurd, Tom Sherak, Marc Cherry, Vince Gilligan, Camryn Manheim, Kellie Martin, Geri Jewell, Robert David Hall, Ken Howard, and Peter Bogdanovich just to name a few.

What's even more extraordinary is Jenni's story - She is a member of the DGA and has been for a while since 1999.  She's been mostly producing and this is her 2nd feature film and one that is very near and dear to her. She is a woman living with Muscular Dystrophy and the disease continues to be debilitating.  When she was a young girl on a telethon at the age of 8 years old, she decided that she wanted to be behind the camera and make films and entertainment.  And now, here she is with her 2nd film.

Her determination and passion is infectious and inspiring.  And it seems like Hollywood thinks so too. She's qualifying the film for the OSCARS and putting it in theaters and REGAL THEATERS has come on board to play her film theatrically around the country and provided her with her New York qualifying engagement at the Regal E-Walk Cinema in Times Square early this month.  In addition, RON MEYER of Universal and producer GALE ANNE HURD are huge fans of the film and are sharing the film with their friends and colleagues.  The MPAA loves the film and the film received  an MPAA rating of PG13.

The film's website: http://www.cinemability.com lists all of the people who have supported her from TODD AO to SOUND DELUX to REGAL, and many, many more!

From the early days of silent films to present day, from Chaplin to X-Men, disability portrayals are ever changing. This dynamic documentary takes a detailed look at the evolution of “disability” in entertainment by going behind the scenes to interview Filmmakers, Studio Executives, Film Historians, and Celebrities, and by utilizing vivid clips from Hollywood’s most beloved motion pictures and television programs to focus attention on the powerful impact that entertainment and the media can have on society.

Do disability portrayals in the media impact society or does the media simply reflect our ever-changing attitudes? This important documentary aims to find out if the media has had a hand in transforming the societal inclusion of the disabled and determine if an enlightened understanding of disability can have a positive impact on the world...Get your tickets now, while you still can!
