Golden Globe Awards Jewelry Trend Predictions From Leading Style Expert

Michael O'Connor Hosts Jewelry Style Event for Show Nominees and Presenters

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10, 2012  -- This week, leading style expert Michael O'Connor will host StyleLab's jewelry style event for Golden Globe nominees, presenters and their stylists at a private venue in Los Angeles. O'Connor has chosen and edited a selection of one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces from world-renowned designers for celebrities to borrow for the red carpet. From rare colored gemstone rings to diamond drop earrings and amazing bracelets, O'Connor will accessorize Hollywood's leading stars with the most exquisite, highest quality jewelry.

O'Connor sees an overall fascination with the 50's/60's this year. As the 2012 award show season officially kicks off, O'Connor offers the following predictions:

Bold Colored Gems
Bright and vibrant colored gemstones that were big in the 60's including pink, red, blue and green, will make a resurgence. Gems will be large and accented with diamonds. One item chosen from the American Gem Trade Association is a 159-carat multi-color sapphire necklace from Baggins, and a pair of earrings from Bhojwani with 88 carats of pink morganite. Zambian emerald earrings from the Gemfields Collection will be a popular choice.

Statement Cuffs
Chunky cuff styles with geometric shapes and vintage designs will be prevalent. Designer Chad Allison's Art Deco and Retro styles definitely draw attention to the wrist when worn alone or stacked.

Mega Drop Earrings
While diamond studs will always remain a staple, we will see a return to oversized drop or chandelier earrings that practically touch the collarbone. Look out for Beverly Hills designer Dena Kemp's three-tiered black diamond drop earrings. Celebrities who want to take the 'customized-color' route will look stunning in Gemvara's triple round gemstone drop earrings that can be customized to their dress color specifications.

60's Inspired Cocktail Rings
Colorful rings with nature-inspired motifs, like designer Farah Khan's "Butterfly" ring, will be seen on our favorite celebrities, many of whom will choose large styles that contrast dress colors.

Organic Designs
Handmade pieces like dangling curved wiring earrings in various shapes are ideal for younger actresses and those wishing for a more delicate style. Jewelry By Gail even adds snowflake charms and fun gemstones at the base of her French Wire designs.
